ARMS CACHE

I was  asked by my company commander to go into the jungle to recover an arms cache  I would have 2 enemy surrendered bandits to guide us to the cache Our intelligence informed all would go well. But the
M o D had a bounty price for all ordinance and small arms ammunition to  any S E P who was responsible for returning it to the British authorities. There was a chance we could have been set up and ambushed for our equipment. To be on the safe side I took an Iban head hunter and a Sarawak ranger plus a dog handler and a wireless operator, plus 7 Fusiliers, I led the party. The photo left shows a Communist terrorist center of the group, opposite is a photo of our haul. Bottom left shows a Dakota dropping surrender leaflets. The photo bottom right shows one of these leaflets. We recovered 2 S M L E's mark 4 plus  4 tins of S A A and  2 complete police uniforms which the bandits used to sneak up on any police out posts and then captured all the documents and ordinance kept in the police station, they then killed all the police in this out post and set fire to it.
